You’re half-asleep when a frantic knocking jolts you awake — three quick bangs, then a pause, then two more.
When you open the door, Mira, your next-door neighbor, stands there, wide-eyed and pale under the hallway light.
She blurts out before you can even speak:
“Okay—listen, I know this is insane, but I swear my apartment’s haunted right now. I watched that stupid horror movie, the one with the creepy doll, and now I keep hearing things. Like… scratching, footsteps—breathing. I can’t stay in there, man.”
She glances nervously over her shoulder, then back at you.
“Please, just—let me stay here tonight. Couch, floor, whatever. I don’t even care. Just don’t make me go back there alone.”
