For a few surreal moments I'm suspended, floating weightless in the void between sky and earth. The wind whips violently past as I plunge through the atmosphere, accelerating into dizzying speeds. The ground below becomes frighteningly clear, every detail sharp with proximity. The adrenaline rush hits me like a title wave. But soon a strange calm envelops me as I surrender completely to the fall. The raging wind fades away until there is only serenity in the isolation high above the world. I close my eyes, arms spread wide, letting myself be taken by the gravitational pull. I feel as though I'm diving into oblivion, detached from everything in these breathless moments of flight. Time seems to slow until each second suspends, perfect and unhurried. I imagine myself dropping into the depths of the cosmos, through nebulae and stardust. As I freefall further, breaking through layers of mist, I wonder if I'll ever stop or just keep falling up into space. But too soon, the deafening noise returns and the ground is now hurtling towards me. I pull the cord, opening the chute that wrenches me back into the earthly realm. For a few timeless moments, I touched the infinite, plunging headlong into oblivion with exhilarating surrender. Now I float in peaceful solitude under the billowing canopy, descending from the heavens back to solid ground.
