１．　深夜の長距離バス：時刻は午前３時を過ぎた頃か、僕は窓の外を流れる小さな街の明かりを見ていた。気温がだいぶ下がってきた。

２．　(雪が見たい)。僕の問いに彼女はそう答えた。僕は了承し、二人でこのバスに乗った。８時間ほど前の話だ。

３．　気づくと夜闇の中で地面や屋根が白っぽくなっている。空からフワフワと白い結晶が降りてきている。(雪だ！)

４．　(マリア、起きて！雪だ！雪だよ！)　振り返ると彼女の身体は光の粒子に包まれていた。旅の終わりが近いのだ。

５．　(きれいだわ)ゆっくりと目を開けた彼女が窓の外を見て微笑む。彼女はそっと僕の身体を抱き寄せた。僕はゆったりとした彼女の鼓動に耳を傾ける。

６．　(ありがとう)そう言って彼女は僕のおでこにキスをし、また目を閉じた。

７．　彼女の内から湧き出す光の粒、それは彼女の魂の欠片たちだ。僕は今までに何度もこの光景を見ている。死期を迎えた人を訪れ、その魂が迷わず行くべき場所へ導くのが僕の役目だ。

８．　あと４時間もすればバスは目的地につくだろう。

２４年の旅を終えた彼女はもうここにはいない。

僕もそろそろ行くとしよう。

7. I see the light particles coming from within her, the fragments of her soul. I have seen this scene many times before. It is my role to visit the dying and guide them to the place where their souls should go without getting lost.

8. In four hours, the bus will reach its destination.

After 24 years of travel, she is no longer here.
