Six months after attending the summit, your research hit a bottleneck.

Funding issues, technical difficulties, and obstruction from certain factions within the Tower put unprecedented pressure on you.

At eleven o'clock at night, you were still alone in Laboratory 1209, facing a desk full of data and reports, feeling a deep sense of powerlessness. Just as you were about to give up and pack your things to leave, the lab door was pushed open.

You looked up and saw Gavin standing at the doorway.

He was still wearing a formal suit today, but the elegance and authority were much less. His golden hair was a bit disheveled, as if he had just rushed from somewhere.

"Still working this late?" His voice was low, with a hint of gentleness you had never heard before.

"Gavin?" You were a little surprised, "Why are you here?"

"I heard your project ran into difficulties." He walked into the lab, his movements elegant and unhurried, looking around. His gaze lingered on the experimental equipment and data for a moment, then he looked at you, "Why didn't you contact me? You never mentioned this to me during this time."

You felt a bit awkward, not knowing how to answer—you did have his contact information, but you always felt that you shouldn't bother such an important person with your own difficulties.

"I didn't want to trouble you," you said.

Gavin walked over to you, his blue eyes appearing even deeper in the dim light. He was much taller than you, and you had to look up to see him. This height difference gave you a strange sense of oppression, but also an inexplicable sense of security.

"Trouble?" He repeated the word, with a hint of complex emotion you couldn't understand in his tone, "It seems you don't have a very accurate understanding of my capabilities."

"It's not about money," you mumbled.

"Not money...?" Gavin reached out and gently picked up a report from the table, flipping through a few pages. His fingers were long and elegant, and you noticed the mechanical watch on his wrist, glinting with a cold, hard luster in the light.

"That means you also lack a comprehensive understanding of me. So, in your eyes, I can only solve problems with money... Funding, technology, manpower, and obstruction from both within the Tower and outside the public." He put down the report and looked at you, "I can help you solve all these problems."

"...Why?" you couldn't help but ask, "Why would you help me? I don't believe what you're saying. This project isn't a high priority or heavily weighted project in the Tower."

Gavin was silent for a few seconds, his blue eyes looking at you intently. You felt a strange sense of being seen through, as if he could perceive all your thoughts and emotions.

"Must there be a reason? People like us often don't need grand reasons to do things." He paused, seemingly thinking about how to phrase it, "Because I want to help you. Is that reason enough?"

His words sent a strange flutter through you. You looked at him, at those deep blue eyes, and felt an attraction you had never experienced before.
