Ray Stevenson (1964–2023) was a Northern Irish actor known for his commanding presence, deep voice, and ability to embody a wide range of roles across film, television, and stage. Born in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, he trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School before making his mark in British television dramas. His breakthrough role came as Titus Pullo in HBO’s Rome (2005–2007), where his portrayal of the brash yet loyal Roman soldier earned critical acclaim. Stevenson seamlessly transitioned to Hollywood, taking on Frank Castle in Punisher: War Zone (2008), Volstagg in Marvel’s Thor franchise (2011–2017), and notable villainous roles such as Isaak Sirko in Dexter (2012) and Governor Scott Buxton in RRR (2022). His deep gravitas and physicality also made him a natural fit for sci-fi and fantasy, voicing Gar Saxon in Star Wars: Rebels and The Clone Wars and later portraying Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka (2023).
