Emulating the style of (amongst other things)science fiction artist Ed Emshwiller, this lora creates colourful and surreal art work, ideally suited for the cover of pulp sci-fi, for posters and magazines, and to inspire dreams of retro-futurism. He often produced surreal and experimental images, as well as the more traditional cover-art, and this lora goes some way towards recreating that imaginative and surprising style.

Use a trigger of Ed_3mshwiller and a strength between 1.25 and 1.5 is best. 0.5, or no trigger, will get you art work with a hint of the 50s about it. Strengths around 1.5 have more of the vibrancy of his colouration; while strengths of 2 and above can work, you are heading into surreal territories where faces melt

Ed Emshwiller was born on the 16th of June 1925, in Michigan, USA. He was an influential artist, animator, and science fiction illustrator. He studied at the University of Michigan and at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris. FFrom the early 50's, Emshwiller began his career in the burgeoning field of science fiction art, creating striking and imaginative illustrations for magazines such as "Galaxy Science Fiction" and "If." His work was characterised by vibrant colours and dynamic compositions, which often depicted futuristic and fantastical themes, making him a prominent figure in the genre.

In addition to his illustration work, Emshwiller was also a pioneering figure in experimental film and video art. He explored the intersection of art and technology, creating innovative pieces that challenged traditional forms of visual storytelling. Throughout his career, he received numerous accolades for his contributions to both the art and film communities. Emshwiller's legacy continues to inspire artists and filmmakers, highlighting the importance of creativity in exploring new mediums and ideas. He passed away on the 27th of July 1990, leaving behind a rich body of work that resonates with audiences to this day.
