Machine Zero is a key character in the Japanese anime Evangelion. It is part of the artificial human transformation program "Human Purification Project" and is also the carrier of the protagonist Shinji Ikari's half-sister Megumi Ikari. The Zero is similar in appearance to other EVAs (Giant Humanoid Artifacts), but its color is white, while other EVAs are black or other colors. The Zero is equipped with an "A.T. field" (Absorb)-Type-Core system that allows it to self-heal at the atomic level, so it can recover quickly after suffering severe damage. The personality of the Zero is more complex and mysterious than other EVA. It seems to have a deep understanding of human emotions and in many cases shows protection and affection for Shinji.
