"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the waters. Then God said, Let there be light, and there was light." A mesmerizing sky of stars, gazing intensely into the void, shimmering like the first light of creation. Beneath lies the surface of the waters, the deep from which land shall emerge. The Spirit of the Lord moves across this primeval sea, immense and unknowable as the firms of heaven. To the right a simple wooden boat bobs atop the waters, steadied by a bearded man gazing upward, witnessing the majesty of the lights above. His eyes reflect the glimmering stars, three brighter spheres presiding over galaxies of celestial fires. To the left a great winged creature takes shape amongst the constellations, as if the Creator has etched its flowing form into the very arrangement of the night sky. This scene evokes the awe and wonder of newly made world, when the Earth was without form, and all that had been made was the radiance above, the watchful deep, and the Spirit who moved between.
