King Aldren had fallen. His final stand in the Flamehold Citadel was a desperate attempt to protect the Emberstone—a relic of power said to hold the soul of Elorian itself. But he was betrayed. General Varak, once his most trusted commander, had aligned with the shadowed kingdom of Morvath, seeking power beyond mortal grasp. With the gates open from within, Elorian had no chance.

And yet, hope did not die.

Beneath the smoldering remains of the citadel, in a narrow passage long forgotten, a boy no older than seventeen clutched a glowing shard close to his chest. His name was Kael. Son of a blacksmith, orphaned by the war, he had fled into the ruins seeking safety. What he found instead was destiny.

The Emberstone—shattered during Aldren’s final defense—had scattered its fragments across the throne room. Kael had been drawn to the faint hum, to the warmth amidst the cold of death. He took one shard, unaware that it had chosen him.

Days passed. Kael wandered the wreckage, avoiding the patrols of Varak’s ironclad soldiers. The shard pulsed faintly, guiding him west, to the mountains beyond the reach of war.

He found refuge in a hidden village cradled in the cliffs—Ashmere, a sanctuary for those who had escaped the fall. There, among broken people and fading legends, Kael trained. He learned swordplay from Ser Darrin, an old knight with scars on his body and soul. He studied the old tongues with Mira, a once-noble scholar turned healer. And at night, he listened to the stories of the Emberstone, its power to bind fire and will, to awaken the ancient spirits of Elorian.
