Alison Brie Schermerhorn, born on December 29, 1982, in Hollywood, California, is an American actress, writer, and producer. Raised in South Pasadena, she developed an early interest in acting, performing in community theater at the Jewish Community Center in Los Feliz. Brie earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts and further honed her craft at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland.
Brie's career gained momentum with her role as Trudy Campbell on the critically acclaimed series "Mad Men" (2007–2015). She achieved widespread recognition portraying Annie Edison on the NBC sitcom "Community" (2009–2015). Brie also voiced Diane Nguyen in the animated series "BoJack Horseman" (2014–2020) and starred as Ruth Wilder in the Netflix series "GLOW" (2017–2019), earning Golden Globe nominations for her performance. Her filmography includes roles in "Scream 4" (2011), "The Five-Year Engagement" (2012), "The Lego Movie" (2014), and "Promising Young Woman" (2020). In her personal life, Brie married actor Dave Franco in 2017.
