Zhang Ziyi is a Chinese actress born on February 9, 1979, in Beijing, China. She gained international fame for her roles in films like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), Rush Hour 2 (2001), Hero (2002), House of Flying Daggers (2004), and Memoirs of a Geisha (2005), which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. She has also starred in The Grandmaster (2013), a role that won her multiple "Best Actress" awards​.

She studied dance from a young age and later attended the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing. Her breakthrough came when director Zhang Yimou cast her in The Road Home (1999). Over the years, she has also worked as a producer on projects like My Lucky Star (2013) and Monarch Industry (2021)​.

Zhang is 1.65 meters (5'5") tall. She has black hair, dark brown eyes, and is known for her high cheekbones and graceful presence. She has endorsed brands like Maybelline, Omega, and Coca-Cola Asia.
