The M4 series is an American medium tank with a total production of 50,000 units.

(The US military calls it the "M4". The British military gave it the nickname "Sherman".)

As the first model in the series, this "M4" and the "M4A1" led the Allied forces to victory in the Normandy landings, the fierce battle of Caen, and the liberation of Paris.

シリーズ合計生産台数が５万両にも達するアメリカの中戦車M4シリーズ。

（アメリカ軍での呼称はあくまで「M4」。「シャーマン」はイギリス軍がつけた愛称）

この「M4」はシリーズの初期型として「M4A1」と共に、ノルマンディー上陸作戦、カーンの激戦、パリ解放と、

連合軍を勝利に導いていきます。

「M4」と聞いて思い出すのは松本零士先生の傑作、『戦場まんがシリーズ』です。

我が日本軍の前には強敵として現れるくせに、ドイツ軍戦車にはけちょんけちょんにやられてしまう、

そんなイカした役どころでした。
