This model is base on a picture book called “A Dream of Red Mansions” is a colored painting on silk with fine brushwork created by the painter Sun Wen in the Qing Dynasty. It is now in the collection of Lvshun Museum.It depicts the story of A Dream of Red Mansions, one of the four greatest works with the highest status in the field of Chinese classical literature.

Sun Wen began to conceive and start painting this set of works around 1867 (the sixth year of Tongzhi). It was not basically completed until 1903 (the twenty - ninth year of Guangxu), lasting for 36 years. Most of the paintings were finished during the seven - year period from 1884 to 1891. That is to say, this painter seemed to have devoted his entire life to the creation of this set of paintings from about the age of 50 to 85. He spent three or four times more effort than Cao Xueqin, who "spent ten years in reviewing and five times in amending" when creating A_Dream_of_Red_Mansions.

This illustrated book is unique among the paintings of the same theme in the Qing Dynasty in terms of the detailed plot, fine brushwork, beautiful composition and large scale.

Although there are very few historical records about this painter, we can still feel from his works that at the end of the Qing Dynasty, there was a top artist who spent decades just to complete his last great work in life, showing his strong inner world.
