The Toyota 2000GT is a sports car developed by Toyota Motor Corporation with the cooperation of Yamaha Motor and released in 1967. 337 units were produced until production ended in 1970.
It features a sleek coupe body with retractable headlights, a 2.0-liter in-line 6-cylinder DOHC engine, and many other technologies and equipment that were being used for the first time in a Japanese mass-produced car, such as 4-wheel double wishbone suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, radial tires, and magnesium wheels.
In terms of performance, it achieved a top speed of 220 km/h, demonstrating performance on par with European sports cars of the time. Before its release, it participated in speed trials, setting various international records, and also participated in the 3rd Japan Grand Prix. It also appeared in the movie "You Only Live Twice," contributing to improving the image of not only Toyota but also the Japanese automotive industry.
