film actress noted for her unique beauty, violet-blue eyes and her portrayals

She began her career as a child actress in the early 1940s and was one of the

most popular stars of classical Hollywood cinema in the 1950s. She then became

The American Film Institute named her the 7th greatest female screen legend

of Hollywood cinema.

In the glare of the Hollywood spotlight, the young actress showed she was

more than adept at handling celebrity's tricky terrain. Even more impressive

was the fact that, unlike so many child stars before and after her, Taylor

proved she could make a seamless transition from young actress to more

adult roles.

Her scandalous love life only boosted the success of her famous films.

She was the first actress to earn One million dollars for a movie role,
