海女(Ama:diving)

海女は、海に潜って貝類や海藻を採集する漁を職業とする人。素潜りで伝統的に海女漁が行われているのは世界中で日本と韓国のみらしい。

Ama (female divers) are people who make a living by diving into the ocean to collect shellfish and seaweed. Japan and Korea are the only countries in the world where female divers traditionally practice free diving.
