The reflection that looked back at me was a stranger, a hollow-eyed alien with a face marked by time and suffering. The cheeks were sunken, the lips horribly cracked and dry, and the left eye was half-closed, weighed down by my troubles. Dark circles marked the skin under my eyes, and the long vein on my forehead throbbed with a life of its own. My hair and beard looked like they had been through a storm, tangled and messy.
