"THERE WAS a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and this was a sincere man, reto e God-fearing, and turned away from evil.
And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
And his livestock was seven thousand sheep., and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred donkeys; there were also a lot of people at his service, so that this man was greater than all those from the east.

Thus did Job continually.
And there came a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, Satan also came among them.
Then the Lord said to Satan: Where do you come from?? And Satan answered the Lord, e disse: From surrounding to land, and walk through it.
And the Lord said unto Satan: Observaste tu a meu servo Good? For there is none like him on earth, sincere and upright man, God-fearing, and turning away from evil.
Then Satan answered the Lord, e disse: Does Job fear God in vain??
Have you not surrounded him with goods?, and your house, and everything that has? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his livestock has increased in the land..
But stretch out your hand, and touch everything he has, and you will see if he does not blaspheme you to your face!
And the Lord said unto Satan: Behold, all that he has is in your hand, only against him do not stretch out your hand. And Satan went out from the presence of the Lord..
