I watch as the glowing orange sun sinks towards the horizon, casting its warm rays over the fledgling village of Reed. As dusk approaches on this summer evening, the winding dirt roads and small wooden buildings of the village are bathed in a soft golden light. I gather with a handful of other settlers in the small town square, weary but filled with hope after our long journey and first night in our new home. We look to the spectacular sunset, taking in the breathtaking panoramic view of the open prairie surrounding us. The sky is ablaze with vibrant pinks, oranges, and red hues that stretch as far as my eye can see. Light wispy clouds are dotted across the horizon, highlighted in purple and blue tones as the sun continues its descent. The glowing orange orb changes to a deep crimson, as its bottom edge kisses the flat landscape signaling the coming night. The vivid colors start to fade into soft yellows and darker blues, creating a gradient of colors across the dimming sky.
