The meadow sprawls bleakly under a gray, morose sky. The tall grasses droop lifelessly, the once vibrant wildflowers now withered and brown. In the distance, the little thatched cottage sits cold and dark, no smoke arising from the chimney. The barn stands empty, a broken fence barely upright around the barren animal enclosure. The well-trodden path to the brook is overgrown with thorns and weeds. The fields are barren, the crops dead and withered. An ominous wind moans across the landscape, cresting the tops of the sad grasses. A murder of crows circles forebodingly overhead, their raucous caws piercing the heavy silence. There is a feeling of emptiness and loss hanging over the meadow, the stillness broken only by the crows' cries.
