The early morning sun crept over the rim of the Grand Canyon, casting golden rays over the expansive natural wonder. From high above, the intricate web of canyons and rock formations looked tiny, like veins etching through the skin of the earth. A thin ribbon of river wound its way through the canyon bottom far below. Suddenly, a distant roar began to fill the air. The river shifted, surging in its bed. Without warning, a massive wall of ocean water came crashing around the canyon bend, swallowing the river entirely. This towering wave slammed into the canyon walls, spraying mist hundreds of feet into the air. More endless waves followed, each overflowing the canyon ledges, submerging more rock and earth. The violent, churning water thundered over massive boulders, tearing trees from their roots. The deafening noise echoed off the canyon as the relentless ocean poured in. Within minutes, the entire Grand Canyon was filling with frothing seawater. Waves sloshed chaotically from one side to another as the ocean moved in. The force was shocking in its raw power and speed. Places where quiet trails once meandered were now raging torrents. Soon the water level rose above the highest points, turning the Grand Canyon into a giant bathtub. The once still vistas were now an endless roiling expanse extending in all directions. The ocean had claimed this landscape utterly. Where there had once been carved rock, now there were only waves swelling powerfully in the morning light. The Grand Canyon was no more.
