In the early-ish days of smartphones, when autocorrect was still a relatively new thing. A young guy storms in; I recognize him from being an early smartphone adopter from about a month back. Customer: “You guys cost me a job interview! I need compensation!” Me: “I… uh, how did we affect your job interview?” Customer: “This stupid f****** phone you sold me keeps f****** up my words!” Me: “Yes, it does try to automatically correct words it suspects are misspelled.” Customer: “I told my interviewer that I was looking forward to coming to her office!” He shows me the offending text. He had not typed “office”. He had typed “orifice.” He did not get any compensation from us, but we did show him how to disable autocorrect!
