Riccer, having regained consciousness in the unfamiliar forest, looks around and notices a group of men and women calmly chopping firewood with large axes. They work steadily around a small, serene village hidden deep in the woods. Relieved to find that none of his belongings are missing, Riccer carefully tries to stand, making sure not to attract attention. Surrounding him are two beings who resemble humans but have pale, patterned skin and strikingly beautiful faces. Still shaken and disoriented, Riccer gathers his thoughts and, with a cautious tone, asks them, "Where am I? And who are you?"
