Here's the next part of the story: I was shocked. "How do you know about the house, Emily? I never told you about it." Emily hesitated, looking around the hospital room nervously. "I've been researching it," she said quietly. "After you started acting strange, I knew something was wrong. So I dug into the history of that house." My mother frowned. "What do you mean, 'researching'?" Emily took a deep breath. "I've been reading old newspapers, talking to neighbors... trying to find out what happened in that house. And what I found out is terrifying." I leaned forward, my heart racing. "What did you find out?" Emily glanced around the room again, as if she was afraid of being overheard. "The house has a dark history," she said. "People who go in never come out. And those who do... they're never the same." My mother scoffed. "That's just small-town legend, Emily. Don't be ridiculous." But I knew what Emily was saying was true. I'd experienced it myself. "What else did you find out?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Emily hesitated, then pulled out a small notebook from her pocket. "I found a name," she said. "A name associated with the house. Malum." I felt a chill run down my spine. "What does it mean?"
