One of the most famous stories is the Patterson-Gimlin film footage captured on October 20, 1967, in the Bluff Creek region of Northern California. Roger Patterson and Robert "Bob" Gimlin, while on a horseback expedition, claimed to have encountered a large, bipedal creature. They quickly grabbed a camera and managed to film a few seconds of what is now known as the Patterson-Gimlin film. The footage shows a tall, hairy figure striding away from the camera.
