In front of him, at some distance, a magnificent structure protruded from the bottom of a floating island. Made of black stone, it resembled a tall, gloomy cathedral, built upside down and floating over an abyss of impenetrable darkness. Its base was its highest point, and seven bell towers descended into the depths of the black void, each ending in a short chain from which hung a massive bell cast from tarnished green copper. Since the Temple of Night was located under the island, the light of the sun never reached it. Instead, the cathedral was shrouded in eternal shadow, and only the pale glow of a distant divine flame caressed its black walls
