![Cyberpunk (from cyber(netic) + punk)[1] is an alternative subgenre of science fiction, known for its "high technology and low quality of life" approach ("High tech, Low life") and takes its name from the combination of cybernetics and alternative punk.[2] It's as if life in this dystopian future were an arcade, from the 80s/90s, dirty, full of maloqueiros and noisy machines, with the air smelling of cigarettes and pollution, but which hypnotizes its residents with fantastic promises of high technology. It combines advanced science, such as information technologies and cybernetics, together with some degree of disintegration or radical change in the current civil system.[3] The term was created in 1980, by writer Bruce Bethke, for his short story "Cyberpunk", which would only be published in November 1983, in Amazing Science Fiction Stories, Volume 57, Number 4.
